New Mexico Weekend

Bits of a New Mexico Weekend.  Storm brewing over the Sandias.

My grape vines overtaking the bamboo fence.
Now, if I can just find some Artic Zero Strawberry Ice Cream it will make my Sunday.

Easy Diabetic Friendly Breakfast Tacos

I seriously can not cook.  But, I can heat and assemble pretty well.  I was digging thru my grocery store shelves, and found these corn tortillas - serving size 2 - 80 calories, and 15 carbs -- perfect.

I took some already cooked Jimmy Dean Sausage crumbles (found at Target), lightly heated in skillet and set aside.  Scrambled 2 eggs (you can use egg substitute), added some cheese, and good old Pace Picante Sauce (hey the classics are back), and yum.  On diet, and yummy, one pan fast.

It's the weekend.  What are you making?

Preppy Chunky Mixed Metal Neon Pink and Orange Necklaces

It is all about Neon.  Neon everywhere.  I love neon and I love mixed metal, which is what inspired me to make these necklaces.  If you need to instantly jazz up a black tshirt, (or any color for that matter), or a sweater, or even one of the new shirt dresses, slip one of these over your neck and you are instantly updated and on trend.

These necklaces are available in my Etsy shop for $20.00 each with free shipping.

Enjoy your weekend.  I am going to try and get caught up on home projects, around the house.  I have been totally lacking in home projects recently.  Ahhhhh, the weekend.  Also, hoping to make some new jewelry.

TV Dinner Update -- TRAYS

I love a good old fashioned TV Dinner.  I don't think they really make them anymore.  You know the ones, the old fashioned ones in foil.  Now they are in plastic.  Several posts ago, I posted old TV Dinner Ads, well these trays would make it perfect.  Found at my local grocery store for $1.99 each.  I like the blue and green best, but the pink is ok too.  They also have them in the round version, but let's face it the square is classic.

Forget TV Dinners, how about an old fashioned Cafeteria Party.  Take your ordinary potluck, run it buffet style down a table (you could even have people serve from behind the table), add these trays, way too much fun.  Football season is around the corner.  Start thinking about those get togethers.

How about just a few to eat dinner on around a good TV Show?  I am sure at the price and that they are plastic, they won't wear that great.  But they are fun.

Fresh Tomato Pasta Salad - Diabetic Friendly

About this time of year you may be having an overload of tomatoes from your garden.  Yay.  Make a quick pasta salad.

I use the Dreamfields Low Carb Pasta, just a bit or small handful goes a long way.  Load it up with diced tomatoes, sweet basil (chopped) fresh mozzarella (easy to find in grocery store), and a small drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette.

Yes, you can add, chicken, pepperoni, or anything else you like.  Have a ton of zucchini or squash, chop up fresh and add in.  Normally I add olives, but I was out.

Enjoy your Nature's Bounty.

Cuff your Pants -- Show your Heels

The previous post is on rolling your jeans, or "Boyfriend Jeans".  Then when perusing my latest, In Style, I saw this great pic of cuffed pink pants, with a kind of sheen, and wow, I just have to do that.  I have a pair of black sateenish (not a word) pants I am going to roll, and iron, so they have that super crips look, and pair with heels or flats, and a crisp white shirt.  Can't wait.

Make your clothes work for you.  Use what you have.

DIY Boyfriend Jeans - DIY Capri Pants

Cuff your jeans!!  Make DIY Boyfriend Jeans, or DIY some no sew Capri Pants

As the days get hotter, the pants get shorter.  I don't always feel like a dress or shorts, but some comfortable boyfriend jeans or capri pants will do the trick.  You can DIY these so easy.  It is also called the 50's cuff.  Best part is no damage to the pant.

Take any pair of jeans or pants/slacks you want.  These are loose, and have a wider leg than I like, so they are perfect.

To make the leg thinner pinch in the middle in the front.

Then roll.
 Then roll again.
 And I rolled again.
Like I said this makes a killer loose fit boyfriend jean.  Or again, if you have a thin slack and want a capri, just roll.

Use what you have, and be a repeat/rewear offender.  It is great for the budget.

Sorry for the lack of posts, will get back to my regular posting.  Summer, what can I say. Wish I was doing something fun, but I feel like I am just running in circles.  What are you waiting for cuff some jeans.

Ghost Chairs and a Rustic Table

A while back I found some folding ghost chairs at Goodwill for $10 a chair.  Wanting to find some inspiration for their use, I looked to the dining room.

My rustic table and my folding ghost chairs.
Second view of the ghost chairs and dining table.

They have found a home at my daughter's house.  She was replacing her 1950's inspired table, and wanted something a little more eclectic.  They look darling or dahhhhling in her house.  These pictures were taken at my house prior to transport.

Repurpose, reuse, reimagine something today.
